RESNEXUS UPDATE:
—
Effective July 1, 2024, California Assembly Bill 537 will prohibit advertising, displaying or offering a room rate that does not
include all fees or charges required to stay at a short-term lodging (except taxes and fees imposed by a government on the stay).
For example, amongst other things, hotel resort fees will now need to be included in the room rate shown to travelers.
Also, effective July 1, 2024, California Senate Bill No. 644 will require hotels, third-party booking services, and hosting platforms
to allow certain reservations for a hotel accommodation or a short-term rental located in California to be canceled without penalty
for at least 24 hours after the reservation is confirmed. In particular, you will need to ensure compliance with this in relation
to reservations where you collect payment from the traveler.
ResNexus is working with all partners on a solution related to both of these laws that will most likely require automatically converting
all the extra fees and adding them into your rate visually. However we are unsure at this time how Expedia and other OTAs
are planning on handling these changes at this time. We will share additional details on related actions for you in the coming weeks as we learn more.
